Choosing Drip Emitter Spacing by Soil and Garden Task
Separate emitter spacing from line spacing, choose a layout for the planting pattern, and verify wetting and flow before expanding it.

Calculate rated flow and theoretical runtime for a water target.
Read the actual emitter label. Flow per 100 feet of tubing is not flow per emitter. The water target is your choice; we do not prescribe a universal watering schedule.
Enter a delivery volume to estimate runtime. Check soil moisture and actual emitter output when using your system.
Emitter count × flow per emitter = total flow per hour. Target volume ÷ total flow × 60 = minutes. Manufacturer flow ratings assume appropriate operating conditions.
Confirm backflow protection, filter, regulator, fitting dimensions, maximum run length and water supply before purchasing components.
